Augmented memory

A system for the mentally challenged, particularly those with memory disabilities, would allow these people to replace some of their brain with silicon. Having everything online takes some of the burdens from the wetware in the head. Those who cannot remember faces could call up previously stored images for comparison.

Even for the non-disabled, the system could prove useful. The electronic notepad would now be in video. Of course textual annotations could be added in. For example, you might take down a picture of someone together with a text label -- their name -- for later recall. That would free up some space in your brain.

Reliance on a machine is not necessarily a bad thing. For example, a pacemaker is a machine, and there are many people who rely on such a machine. Of course forgetting someone's name is't usually as catostrophic as heart failure.
